The Big-D Idaho Falls office began, in earnest, in 2013 when a project construction team with ties to Eastern Idaho was relocated to Rexburg, Idaho to manage the construction of the Central Energy Facility project at BYU-Idaho. Company leadership then discovered there were other employees from Eastern Idaho eager to pursue more work locally. In turn, Big-D encouraged their eagerness and desire to establish a presence throughout Eastern Idaho. That presence continued to grow until Big-D officially opened a regional office in Idaho Falls in 2018.
Big-D Idaho Falls is proud to offers clients the ability to work directly with a local contractor who can devote a higher level of attention to projects, typical of a smaller contractor, but who is also backed by the significant resources of a much larger firm. The Big-D Lindon office opened in 2005 with the focus to increase Big-D’s presence in Utah County. The Lindon office constructs a wide range of project types annually, with key market sectors being commercial buildings, higher education facilities, multi-family housing, industrial, and mining projects. Big-D Lindon is a fully self-sufficient office, able to offer comprehensive Preconstruction and Construction services, and is staffed with a Preconstruction Director, a team of estimators, and a variety of market-specific construction team members.
Building and maintaining local client relationships has always been the driving factor for the Lindon office but being local for their employees who appreciate working on projects close to home and minimizing long commutes is equally as important. Big-D Construction was founded in 1967 in Ogden. It was our original home, first headquarters, and where it all started. The Ogden office is where our company culture and core values were forged and where Big Dee and his founding leaders built a company based on equal respect for customers and employees. The Ogden operation grew quickly, taking on larger and more notable projects in the food and beverage processing, manufacturing and industrial warehouse sectors. The Capitol Theatre is a three-story, brick and terra cotta building, originally built in 1913. It has undergone several renovations and remodels since opening and was added the National Register of Historic Places in 1976. Big-D performed one of the more recent interior renovations with the goal of preserving its distinguished historic beauty while making improvements to modernize accommodations and amenities. This included renovation and reconfiguration of orchestra-level seating with wider seats, optimized views, and improved access to new ADA seating, and renovation of basement chorus dressing rooms, showers, and restrooms. Construction also included additions of a new announcer booth in the rear orchestra level and a new A/V system for cleaner sound and more coverage throughout the theatre. The project also involved a rooftop boiler replacement as well as installation of new roofing and insulation. Throughout the project, the Big-D team took great care to protect existing finishes and historic architectural elements of the theatre while performing renovations and remodeling.

The Tracy Aviary is located inside Liberty Park near downtown Salt Lake City and spans eight acres. It is a longstanding part of the city’s history, originally opening in 1938. Big-D constructed a multi-phase renovation of the facility to completely transform its physical landscape and exhibits and position them as a world-class zoological facility and major attraction for Utahns and visitors. Phase one was a Visitor Center and Park Entrance with features including education and guest services spaces, entrance plaza, and pelican pond boardwalk. Phase two was the South America Pavilion and Bird Show Amphitheater. The South American Pavilion is dedicated to the birds and habitat of Mexico and Panama and includes exhibit buildings, holding facilities, and an interactive plaza. The outdoor Bird Show Amphitheater incorporates a beautifully constructed shotcrete backdrop, formed to resemble the granite slabs found in nearby Little Cottonwood Canyon. The Tracy Aviary received LEED Gold® certification.
